Online Panel Debate - Domestic Violence in Times of Covid-19
REGISTER FOR EVENT: HERE
The COVID-19 pandemic does not impact everyone in the same way: those who are already marginalised and at risk of violence and exploitation see their situation worsened due to a one-size-fits-all confinement measures.
For women in abusive relationships, being forced to remain at home with their partner results in a higher risk of psychological and physical violence. Moreover, in times of social distancing and home lockdown, reaching out for help becomes more complicated.
Only by acknowledging that confinement measures need to be gender-sensitive can we avoid a further increase of domestic violence and gender-based violence during the pandemic.
In this panel debate we aim at exploring the local and European responses to domestic violence during the COVID-19 pandemic.
